Leica M8 x Vancouver,

 

a pretty hectic way to start 2014 for me. business trips, phone conference 3 times a week or sometimes more, visitors, paper works, reports, budgets and so on. i will need to use my spare time indeed during the trip. morning, afternoon. of course with my little friend, Leica M8.

2014は開始早々かなりドタバタ。出張ばっかで電話会議なんか週もしくはそれ以上、来客あるは書類だレポートだ予算だと。出張中の空き時間ぐらい有意義に使わないとね〜。朝だろうが昼だろうが。ツレのライカM８も連れて。

 

this time was during the Chinese New Year month. Pacific Centre (i love how they write it as ‘centre’ instead of ‘center’) next to the Four Seasons  had this big banzai-ing lady statue or whatever you called those in the front lobby  next to the coffee shop on Georgia St. side.

こん時は丁度チャイニーズニューイヤー手前。Four Seasonsホテル隣にあるパシフィックセンター（カナダではcenterをcentreと書く、カッコいい）にはバンザイ気味のデッカいなんつーのか置物？がジョージア通り入入り口ロビーのコーヒー屋さん前に飾ってあった。

Arctic Vancouver,

the usual, Vancouver trip. it’s a short flight, less than 3 hours in the sky and your in Canada.

いつもの、バンクーバー出張。中々短いフライト。３時間以内にはカナダに着きます。

and here I am, blessed by a such nice weather (but cold).

そして着いたぜナイスな天気（寒いけど）。

and woke up with a snow. where’s the sun?

Business trip again to Vancouver.

出張でまたバンクーバーでした。

tried to look like an local wearing my lightest jacket and failed. now i am sick… lol

yes, Vancouver again.

そう、またバンクーバーでした。

didnt go for pleasure as usual (been there so many times but no site seeing ever lol). attended Hydrogen Fuel Cell Conference 2013 as i had few meetings to take care of. note that i was invited to visit south Africa. hmmm… well, worked hard, but also photo-ed hard on the streets.

例の如くプレジャーで行ったわけではないけど（もう何回も行ってるけど一回も観光した事無いww）。今回はHydrogen Fuel Cell 2013って言う学会的なヤーツ行って来た。そういえば南アフリカ訪問の話が。んんんん…とにかく、みっちり仕事して、ばっちり写真も撮って来た。

it was supposed to be nice weather but apparently, i brought in the rain.

天気良かったはずなんだけど、どうやら俺は確実にバンクーバーの雨男らしい。

stayed at the Coal Harbour side this time as it was closer to the convention center. sorry, i meant, convention centre. its actually better for sightseeing purpose as the olympic torch is right there and the new Cactus Club is awesome. Plus, the historic Gas Town is walking distance, nice view of North Vancouver, etc.

今回はコンベンションセンターも近いコールハーバー側に泊まってました。 観光にはこっちの方が良いかもね。オリンピックのトーチ（やべー日本語が出てこない…）がすぐそこにあったり、新しいCactus Clubハンパねーし。それに、ガスタウン近いし、北バンクーバーの眺めが良かったり、色々。

only brought my 28mm Elmarit (4th) this time on my M8. i was debating on bringing my Ultra Wide Heliar but kept that at home, out of reach from my daughters lol. first time using it under the street condition zone focusing and taking snaps. of course its an awesome piece of glass. i just need more practice on zone focusing. was going to sign up for the akademie of Leica per street photography but mang that was over budget. $599.99. i need a silver sugar mama to spot me the gig LOL

今回はM8に28mmエルマリートだけ。ウルトラワイドヘリアー持って行こうか悩んだけど、娘達の手の届かないとこに置いておいたw。実際町中でのゾーンフォーカスしながらのスナップで使うのは初めて。もちろんこのレンズは最高です。しかしながらまだまだ目測でのフォーカスは難しい。ライカのストリート写真関連のアカデミー行こうと思ったけど大分予算越えだよね。$599.99てあーた。銀色の熟女から援助してもらわな行かれへん（笑

Vancouver Round 1,

just came back from my Vancouver trip round 1. will be headed back there again tomorrow. and possibly the following week. running like a headless chicken here!!

バンクーバー出張第一戦目より戻りました。明日もう一回飛びます。もしかしたらその翌週も。首の無い鶏が走り回ってる状態だぜ！！

but of course i won’t forget my photographic opportunity in Vancouver. i love Vancouver downtown.

もちろんバンクーバーで写真を撮るチャンスは逃さない。バンクーバーダウンタウン好き。

of course every time i make a visit here, it’s raining.

例の如く、ここに来ると必ず雨が降る。

blurs can be effectively used…

ブレも使いようによっては使える…はず。

every time i shoot a bird, it’s wings are flapped closed… lol i normally keep my M8 at S and use the discreet mode but maybe i should start using C instead.

鳥を撮ると必ず羽根が下になる…笑。M８は大体Sモードでディスクリートモードにしてるけど、Cモードも多様していこうかな。

see you back on Sunday Vancouver! not sure if i will be able to wonder around creeping up on people but… we’ll see.

日曜日にまた会いましょうバンクーバー！人の後付け回ってる時間があるかはわからないけど…まぁ成り行きで。

Japan Trip, Feb to March,

home sweet home for once. the flight back was pretty brutal with heavy turbulence dropping the altitude (some people were actually screaming… lol). but here i am, back home safe in piece.

いやー帰って来た帰って来た。帰りの便はかなり乱気流なんかで高度ガクンって落ちるぐらい大荒れだったけど（叫んでる乗客も居たぐらい…笑）。しかし無事に戻って来ました。

i did take few shots in Japan but not a lot. way too busy with meetings and prepping reports, etc. so, decided to use this gallery feature for the first time lol

何枚か日本で撮ったけどいっぱいではない。打ち合わせだレポート作成だでめちゃめちゃ忙しかった。ってなわけで、初めてギャラリーって言う物を使ってみるw。

we managed to finish the meetings a day in advance (because we are so awesome) and a day early. should have stayed a day longer so that I can build my street photography portfolio. oh well, will be there again next month or so. till then, Vancouver!!

一日早く会議が終わったので（俺等最高だから）一日早く帰りました。もう一日居てポートフォーリオ用の写真撮り溜めしておけばよかったかな。まぁしゃーない、また来月終わりぐらいに行く予定だし。またねバンクーバー！！
